about

This is the only 'Old' song on the album. We brought it back to life one afternoon sitting at Ben's place and it seemed to play well with the rest of the record.

lyrics

Daddy got stung and he bent to the suffering
Soul whose hours are bled,
Old pine lent and swayed
In the shuddering breezes over our heads,
Daddy lay down and slept in his shivering arms,
Round a life that he once led,
Holding tight the seeds he'd been gathering,
Wind blowin' high in the moonlight coming down,

Where did they go?

Daddy got up and he cried in the morning,
Son rise up at peace with the dead,
Old man long the weight of his shoulders,
Weight gone in the frozen earth kept,
Daddy went down and drank from the river,
Bends on by the light of the morning,
Nothing for long howl of wind in the cedar tops,
Onward the gathering north wind blows away,
Nothing to say,
And the leaves keep falling down.
